Introduction and Aim: Lumbar disc herniation is one of the most common causes of low back pain. Sciatic pain in association with lumbar disc herniation may require surgical intervention in the form of lumbar discectomy.Chronic illnesses such as the low back pain has important consequences like an alteration in the health quality of the person. Health quality is a multi-faceted concept and goes beyond an examination merely in terms of physical health .The present study was to the Health quality assessment in patients admitted to Imam Reza Hospital of Kermanshah before and after Herniated Lumbar Disc surgery. Materials and Methods: We included 90 patients with chronic low back pain in the analytic observational study. Sampling in this study was available. Using the 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), we evaluated the quality of life before and 6 and 12 months after lumbar discectomy. Demographic data were collected using demographic questionnaire accordance with the objectives. Data were analyzed whit independent t-test and repeated measures ANOVA. Results: In this study, There has been a significant increase in the mean of overall quality of health score in intervention group 6 Months (60.17 ± 4.55) and 12 months after intervention (65.26 ± 6.18), in compare with before the intervention (29.59 ± 5.94) (p < 0.001). The mean improvement in physical health scores were significantly higher in body mass index (BMI), sex, duration of back and lower limb pain, the number of disks involved and smoking, But the difference in age, occupation and education was insignificant.
